Have you ever been walking to your vehicle and realized you accidentally stepped into a high-stakes martial arts movie? I was just minding my own business in the parking lot when I spotted this absolute extraterrestrial. I had to bust out the macro lens just to comprehend what I was looking at. This tiny mantis nymph looks like it was assembled from leftover twigs, dried leaves, and pure, unadulterated rage. Just look at that stance! The aggressively curled tail, the perfectly folded front arms, the tiny, pointy head locked directly onto the camera lens. He is entirely squared up and ready to defend his concrete territory against a giant. It’s honestly inspiring. If I had even ten percent of the unearned confidence of a microscopic insect trying to physically fight a photographer, I could probably take over the world. I ultimately decided to just carefully back away and let him keep the parking spot.
